A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1 (NIV)
so recently the Lord's really been teaching me about controlling my tongue. remember... i talk a lot. now i would love to say that all the words that come out of my mouth are good words, happy words, uplifting words, but unfortunately that's just not true.
recently i've been really aware of how i sometimes respond to people, & let's just be honest... it's not always in love. the Lord is really placing an awareness in my heart that i need to really think before i respond with harsh words. even when that person may have royally ticked me off over & over & over & might, in my mind, deserve some bold words... i am called to respond in love with kind, gentle, loving words, not my sometimes initial flesh reaction of words that are emotionally toxic, words of bitterness, condemnation, & pride.
how could our relationships with family, friends, co-workers, or even strangers all benefit or change from stopping before we initially react in anger & allow the holy spirit to seep through & allow our words to cover these people in love?
happy thursday!

Beautiful post. He's teaching me the same. Today I was able to do so with someone who I'm usually less than gracious with ... the result was a strange, weird, wonderful feeling for her and for me.
