{katy - a walking testimony}

we had our last night of Advance yesterday at church before we break for summer.  this past year has been such a great year with my 9th grade girls and i have shared with you a little bit of Katy's story here on the blog.  last week, katy and i were asked to share our story and dan, our awesome media/design/graphic guru, put this little clip together of our story.  it's something that i'll cherish forever.  thanks dan!!

{remission}

, katyyes, it's true! sweet katy is in REMISSION!!!
from the shock of her diagnosis, to starting an intense chemo treatment within days of entering the hospital, katy had a hard battle from november through the last few months.  God sustained her and her family and she fought hard and beat that nasty cancer's butt!  thank you for taking the time to pray for her last year.  she is now able to come back to Advance with us and isn't she too cute with her beautiful buzz cut?!  seeing that smile makes everything a-okay!  she's still working on physical therapy, speech theraphy, and occupational therapy.  the intense chemo treatment that katy went through plus lots of complications did some major yuck on katy, but she is a trooper & is coming back strong!

update on Katy

{friend} = a person with whom one is
allied in a struggle or cause; a comrade

{self·less} = having no concern for self

{love} = : unselfish loyal and benevolent
concern for the good of another
--------------------------------------------------------------
we could all learn a lot about selfless friendship & love from Katy's sweet,
sweet friend who shaved her head last week in support of her friend.

please keep praying for Katy as she started another round of chemo last week.
pray that the complications that she experienced last time are avoided,
that her doctors are given wisdom of how to carefully treat Katy,
that her tumor goes away, and that Katy will be able to come home soon!

keep sending em' up!

*{katy.update}*

yesterday i was able to visit katy's sweet parents at the hospital to check on katy. she has officially been diagnosed burkitt's lymphoma, which is a pretty rare & aggressive form of cancer. katy started her first round of chemo last saturday & she's had her ups & downs since then. she is in the ICU in critical, but stable condition. her kidneys are not processing the chemo as well as the doctors would like so please pray that her kidney function improves.

i believe in a God of miracles so let's send up those prayers today for Katy
and for her parents Linda & Gary as they walk through this battle.

{here is an awesome graphic that one of our student's in our youth group made for Katy!!}
