direction, not intention, determines your destination

i don't like goals. never have. as i get older though i'm realizing how critical they are in moving foward & growing in life. we are currently running a series with our youth at church called "principle of the path" based off of the book by Andy Stanley. the "principle of the path" is this...

direction, not intention, determines your destination.

see the trouble is... i'm a girl of intentions. i get these big ideas & INTEND to follow through, but more times than i'd like to admit i don't take the necessary steps in the right direction to actually complete what needs to be done to reach the goal i've set.

slowly but surely self-discpiline is becoming a learned habit in my life... and slowly but surely i'm starting to set goals in my life and setting my direction to reach that goal and have accomplished (with a lot of prayer & petition to God for His help) operation weight loss as you remember was my first HUGE goal that i've ever set & accomplished. there were many times in the past where i had great intentions of losing weight, but never... never followed through. i finally took the necessary steps in the right direction, followed through, & arrived at my weight loss destination.

now it's time for another big direction for my life...
as you know i have a passion for photography. this is something that i've always loved. ever since i can remember i've been the girl with the camera in everyone's face. my parents recently brought me a box of old stuff that they had cleaned out of my old room in their house & the first thing i noticed was how many picutres were in there.

i just love photography!! there's just something about a photo that captures a little bit of the wonder of life. i love the inspiration of seeing something beautiful & then being able to capture that in a photo. photos can bring back memories, create a feeling or emotion inside someone, and even inspire others. what an amazing concept!

i've decided that i'm going to set a goal to pursue this passion of mine! i'm going to start over the next month taking the steps in the direction of learning more about this craft. i'm going to head toward the direction of possibly one day making a career change so that i'll have the ability to turn this passion & love for photography into a job that i love!

eeekkkkk... did i just type that?!? it's kind of scary putting those vulnerable thoughts down on "paper" but there it is folks!! i've been toying with this idea for a while and have had intentions of doing it, but have never followed through. i've finally decided to just start taking the steps in that direction... stay tuned!!

what direction do you need to step up & decide to take today??

Getting a little teary eyed that you had the guts to type it. WOOT WOOT...Over the last year or so that we have "known" each other, I have thought many times that your true passion lies in photography. I have wished and prayed that you would have the courage to make the possibility of working in that field a reality in your life. Soooo proud of you for putting it out there in the universe!!!

PS You look aMAAAzing...
